5 Reasons for Popularity of Prefabricated Steel Buildings

Prefabricated steel buildings have been widely accepted by the world as a worthy alternative to traditional construction and even superior in some areas. They offer a number of benefits that traditional buildings are unable to provide. A prefabricated building has its components made in a factory which are then shipped to the job site for installation. Let’s look at few advantages of prefabricated steel buildings over their traditional counterparts:

They have consistent quality

In prefabrication, majority of the manufacturing work takes place in a controlled factory environment using machinery. The entire building structure is determined before and a drawing is sent to the production team, who follows the same. Therefore consistency is retained. Also, steel does not wear out unlike wood or other decaying material under environmental conditions.

Long term cost savings

Pre engineered steel buildings are mostly modular in nature, which are easy to dismantle and can be rebuilt at another location. So instead of having to make a new building all over again, the same one can be used multiple times. Needless to say this saves a lot of cost. Also, steel is inherently long lasting and is not affected by moisture, pest, etc which cause wear and tear in brick and mortar buildings. Thus, steel buildings save cost in the long run.

Built to maximum efficiency

Since the entire process (dimensions, measurements, load bearing capacity) is pre engineered, it becomes easy to manufacture these buildings for maximum efficiency. Also, offsite construction means little or no waste is left at the construction site. Thus, prefab steel buildings account for much less construction pollution.

These buildings are long lasting

Over a period of time, the joints and staples that are commonly used in assembling of wooden prefab structures may start giving up. This has an impact on the entire frame and can cause certain parts of the building to sag and doors to stick. Whereas, steel used in prefab metal buildings will remain in place, no matter how old the building becomes, thereby retaining structural strength and rigidity.

Prefab steel buildings are green

Time and again, steel has been considered to be greenest among all other building materials. The reason is steel can be recycled time and again without affect its inherent strength and durability. Once the usage of your steel building is over and it is no longer needed, the steel can be recycled and reformed into other structures to be used in other projects.

At EPACK, we have been into prefabrication for 20 years. We make large industrial structures like warehouse, factories, cold storage building as well as a wide range of infrastructure like pre engineered airport terminal buildings, school buildings, etc.
